This was one of those dreamy summer evenings when you never really want to go home. The warm, dusk air, heavy with the sweet smell of pollen, drugged us all into a sense of timelessness as we wound our way between the hedgerows from Rattery to Dartington.

By the time we had explored the riverside path to Totnes and the track to Littlehempston, the huge red sun was setting behind the trees, reminding us that, as with all good things, the ride would soon be over.
