Ride Reports
Informal social
With several members away, we swapped the planned swim for an informal social, gathering to watch last week’s tour videos in full HD from the club website. A quiet change of pace, but the footage brought the ride back to life.
Games evening
A brief report: the club’s games evening revolved around Tekken 6, which provided the night’s main entertainment.
South Brent
A brisk climb and detour made for a fast run to South Brent, with Co‑op provisions eaten by the riverside. The return via Lutton lane brought a chance meeting with Ash, lending a sociable note to a pacey morning.
Pool: Plymouth
A relaxed off-bike evening in Plymouth: pool at Tenpin, then tasty cookie dough at Pizza Hut.
Stover Country Park
Bound for Haytor, we let the youngsters steer to Trago Mills: drop slides and good food, then a quiet loop via Stover and Teigngrace. The day ended with Dillan completing his longest local ride in record time.
Pizza Hut: Plymouth
A relaxed evening social: we visited Pizza Hut in Plymouth for a meal out, then rounded off with arcade games at Tenpin—a simple, cheerful night.
Holne
Glorious weather, but a gentle, indecisive outing: one rider was unwell and the youngsters couldn’t agree on a route. We rode the Burchetts Wood track, not too muddy, to the café at Holne for soup and bacon toasties, then ambled back via Hembury.
Paignton Seafront
An impromptu trip to Paignton proved more than just arcade machines: Paignton Pier and the seafront were far more absorbing than expected. A glass-box fortune teller entertained John and there was time for the adventure playground in semi-darkness, before a quiet finish at Asda.
Holne
A ride defined by personal preferences: Lawrence set the tone with the Cross Furzes climb and a cautious line on off-road. At Holne a guessing game unmasked curried banana soup, and later a circuit of Hembury Fort’s moat met hidden brambles.
Games evening and supermarket trip
Computer games filled the evening, broken up by a mid‑session visit to Tesco to stock up on snacks.
Woodbury Common
A day of discovery along the Exe Estuary Trail to Exmouth ended with playful daredevilry at Woodbury Castle, where jumps and a rope swing kept us far longer than planned. Highlights included a youngster’s radio-controlled buggy and an over-ambitious doughnut stop.
Games evening
A very brief report: with Dillan unwell, we switched to a games evening at Crofters, the most appropriate social for the night.
