Ride Reports

Ten-pin bowling: Plympton
Fri, 10 Mar 2006

At long last we made it to Plympton Mega Bowl, despite Michael’s car faltering outside Buckfastleigh; a quick switch to Gavin’s saw us squeeze in two Family Hour games for £4.50, with Gavin taking the first and Michael the second.

Colston Road
Sun, 12 Mar 2006
10 mi

With no detailed report to hand, it was likely a short, wet spin along Colston Road to Dartington before looping home via Staverton—the sort of quiet club morning where the route itself is the memory.

Squash
Fri, 17 Mar 2006

The write-up is missing, but we recall a relaxed squash social on the courts, likely at Ivybridge or Paignton leisure centre—an uncomplicated evening together away from the bikes.

Berry Pomeroy Castle
Sun, 19 Mar 2006
22 mi

A relaxed loop to Berry Pomeroy Castle, with a picnic on Longmarsh and photos at the castle, ending with a timely sighting of a steam train at Staverton on the way home.

Pizza Hut: Plymouth
Fri, 24 Mar 2006

For our penultimate social we went to Pizza Hut, Plymouth, drawn by the £2.80 offer of unlimited ice‑cream factory and drinks. A simple, cheerful stop where value and refills were the main event.

Computer games
Sun, 26 Mar 2006

Heavy rain cancelled the morning ride, so the day became a social indoors of computer games. A modest detour from the plan, remembered more for shared screens than for miles.

Badminton
Fri, 31 Mar 2006

A straightforward evening badminton social, likely at Ashburton, Ivybridge, Newton Abbot or Paignton leisure centre, offered an off-bike get-together that kept the group connected with friendly competition and a welcome change of pace.

Harberton
Sun, 02 Apr 2006

The ride to Harberton is remembered chiefly through its photos: a bright, straightforward outing that reached its goal, then turned for home by mid‑afternoon, the group threading back via Rattery sawmills at about 3pm.

Staverton
Fri, 07 Apr 2006

A sunny evening ride to Staverton, remembered in outline: out via Colston Road, back by Caddaford Hill or Green Lane. The exact route is hazy, but the ease of familiar lanes was the day’s quiet pleasure.

The report is missing, but photos show a sunny ride that made it to Ugborough Beacon, with a likely return through Aish and South Brent.

Cornish Coast 2006 4

A hard north-Cornish wind set the tone as three riders traced the coast from moor to beach. We crossed Davidstow Moor nose-to-tail, hid by a derelict airfield, then swapped pedals for a Padstow speedboat and came back drenched and grinning. At Harlyn Sands two of us ran straight into the sea fully clothed. The sea, and the weather around it, shaped every day.

Easter special: Hembury
Sun, 16 Apr 2006

Only three turned out for our Easter Special, climbing through Hembury Woods to a woodland glade for a cream‑egg hunt: Josh found his quickly, Dennis with a little help. We finished with a relaxed run along the upper tracks.
