Ride Reports
TV morning: Doctor Who
Damp weather turned the planned ride into a Doctor Who social morning.
Music quiz
The youngsters chose another social evening with our popular music quiz. It proved a close contest, with Ash taking the win by a small margin, breaking the usual pattern.
Cinema: Prince Caspian
Opening night brought the buzz for Prince Caspian, the second Narnia film, with the Pevensies returning to a darker realm to help the exiled prince reclaim his throne. Bigger battles and a richer world easily exceeded expectations, making a standout social evening.
Dartington
Tao and Gavin returned after a long break for a ride via the new cycle path to the Cider Press at Dartington, where Cranks tempted a stop for strawberry cream cake. Ash’s knee pain cut his ride short with Michael, while the others carried on.
Games evening
We ditched the cinema plan for Kung Fu Panda when Zac steered the evening towards gaming instead, and it became a relaxed bout of friendly rivalry on the Xbox 360 and PCs.
Avon Dam
On reaching Dean Prior, Ashley called to say he’d overslept, so Michael drove back to collect him while Sam and Jay continued past Nurston. All four regrouped at Bloody Pool.
Hembury Woods
A short morning ride followed the lower track in Hembury Woods under clear sunshine—a simple, unhurried outing that made the most of the quiet.
Cinema: Kung Fu Panda
An easy social evening at Exeter’s Vue for Kung Fu Panda, the lively story of Po, an unlikely Dragon Warrior trained by Master Shifu to face Tai Lung. Laughter throughout and a cheerful mood made it a simple, well‑loved outing.
Diptford
A planned car‑assist to Slapton became a shorter ride to Diptford when Zac realised he hadn’t enough money. We rode from Syon Abbey to Avonwick via the restored Cobbly Path and beside the River Avon past the old station, then headed straight back as the heat built.

Games evening
A card-led social replaced the usual computer gaming, sparked by the youngsters’ interest after playing on the train during the tour. Their enthusiasm set the tone for a relaxed, quietly competitive evening.
Holne
Donald’s return brought newcomers Ashley and Tom, and the ride became a simple celebration of youthful energy: a muddy approach to Holne Play Park left by Holne Fair, then exuberant runs on the Hembury Woods fort and slalom. The newcomers rode strongly and clearly enjoyed it.
