A very brief report: an off-bike social where network games of Lord of the Rings and Call of Duty kept everyone happily occupied all evening.

Skerraton
Sun, 06 Dec 2009

We set out for Skerraton Down but, hit by a bitterly cold wind at the top past Nurston, we cut the ride short and returned via Dean Hill for a computer games social.

Holne
Sun, 13 Dec 2009

A chilly run to Holne via Buckfast, Scoriton and Michelcombe featured a cheering chocolate stop before the cold ruled out a longer route home. Hembury Woods’ mud deterred most, and Zac and Callum, going it alone, missed the slalom and emerged halfway up the road.

Charades
Fri, 18 Dec 2009

A brief note: the group chose a night in, with Michael organising charades that kept everyone entertained.

Wallaford Farm
Sun, 27 Dec 2009

With Michael still recovering from flu, we kept it gentle: a quick Lord of the Rings PC network game, then a very short spin up Wallaford Road and back via Duckspond. The real highlight was Ash unveiling his new Trek mountain bike.

Computer games
Fri, 01 Jan 2010

An evening of gaming centred on a hard-fought Lord of the Rings campaign: four brutal armies, steady teamwork and a late win that felt earned. We began by trying Pinball Dreams and finished with some epic Call of Duty battles.

Buckfast
Sun, 03 Jan 2010

Near-freezing cold defined the day: despite a delayed 11.30 start, the short run towards Buckfast was too chilling for some, with inadequate gloves the undoing. We looped back to Buckfastleigh by 1pm and salvaged the outing with computer games.

A snow day turned our social into a PC gaming siege: after Callum arrived by quad bike, our Lord of the Rings campaign collapsed on Tournament Hills, but the evening found its rhythm on Call of Duty, where Michael proved that perks beyond Juggernaut can carry a match.

Relentless snow halted the planned ride, so the club gathered for computer games and an early 2.30 finish. Ryan even cycled down from Holne while Michael’s car got 10 metres before he had to shovel it back into its space.

Badminton
Fri, 15 Jan 2010

Despite Zac’s efforts to scupper the plan, our badminton evening went ahead: after a quick round of Call of Duty we headed to Coombeshead School for some spirited games, capped by an impromptu coaching session from a visiting teacher that lifted the novices.

Dartington
Sun, 17 Jan 2010

On the first sunny Sunday in months we rode to Dartington, spirits high for the year ahead, and unexpectedly found the Cider Press Centre open for a welcome stop at Cranks. A ‘healthy’ sweet-shop detour backfired when Michael’s pricey Turkish delight tasted, as Ash put it, like soap.

Ten-pin bowling: Plymouth
Fri, 22 Jan 2010

We chose ten-pin bowling in Plymouth, where Michael stunned himself with a turkey to set a personal best 152; Ash also beat his best with 134. A cheerful evening all round.
