A relaxed evening led by Gavin took us up Green Lane to Abham and Staverton, with time for refreshments and a Frisbee in Staverton Park at sunset. A brief drama when Gavin mislaid his phone was calmly solved by Michael, supporting from the car, before a steady return via Colston road.

With rain setting in, the group swapped the ride for badminton at Ashmoor; Dillan, playing Ash for the first time, found he was a capable player, and Michael, still recovering from surgery, could not run but still landed several winners.

A good evening ride turned memorable when Gavin stopped to chat at Nurston and forgot the rest of us, so Michael phoned him from the top. Even starting late, Michael persuaded a detour down Lutton lane to South Brent, and we still reached home via Harbourneford for 9.20.

With no appetite for distance, we took a gentle climb from Cross Furzes onto the Abbots Way towards Water Oak Corner. The ride became a pause: Frisbee in the low sun among moorland grasses, before a direct roll home and the usual after-ride social at Crofters.
