Ride Reports
Badminton and basketball: Ashburton
Will persuaded everyone to head to Ashmoor Leisure Centre in Ashburton for a sociable mix of badminton and basketball; the smaller single-court hall made it close and lively.
Squash, badminton and basketball: Ivybridge
Appalling weather forced us to cancel the morning ride; with Ashmoor fully booked we headed to Ivybridge leisure centre for impromptu games of squash, badminton and basketball. A simple switch of plan made for a cheerful, good‑value session indoors.
Ten-pin bowling: Plymouth
Will's birthday became a cheerful ten-pin bowling evening after John unveiled a secret chocolate cake and took everyone to the lanes. A pizza run and pool rounded it off, though leaving George in charge of the boxes proved unwise; meanwhile Lawrence's late message meant he missed it all.
Staverton
A gentle, mostly flat outing to welcome Jack on his first club ride, with a pause by the river at Staverton Bridge and frisbee in the park keeping spirits high. A puncture for Will near Hole Farm briefly delayed things before a prompt fix and a timely return.
Games evening
An evening of extended computer gaming culminated in a lively movie themes quiz. We finished later than usual at 10.25.
Holne
Late arrivals shaped the morning. With the Holne café closed for refurbishment after its village purchase, we were still allowed to buy from the shop and use the tables; Ash joined at 12.40 and we rode back via Hembury Woods, arriving just ahead of a heavy shower.
Sports
A relaxed sports social at Ashmoor Leisure Centre, Ashburton, likely mixed badminton and basketball for a change of pace from the bike. A simple evening on court while we continue to search for the original report.
Ashburton
Icy roads forced us to delay the start, and with most of us under the weather we kept it gentle: a short run along the old Ashburton road, threading a few town cycle routes before turning home and finishing by 1pm.
Pizza Hut: Plymouth
A simple, sociable evening: we drove to Barbican Leisure in Plymouth for a tasty Pizza Hut meal, then rounded it off with a few games of pool at TenPin before heading home.
Badminton and squash: Ivybridge
With rain dampening enthusiasm, the morning ride was shelved and we headed to Ivybridge leisure centre for badminton and squash, catching a heavy shower on the way; Ash, late again, joined mid-session.
Games evening
No one felt like going out, so the evening stayed indoors with Call of Duty: Ghosts on the PCs and music quizzes. A simple, good‑humoured change of pace that kept everyone engaged.
Badminton and basketball: Ivybridge and tour videos
Rain put paid to the ride, so we lingered over coffee at Crofters, revisited our Switzerland tour on video, collected a sheepish Callum who had overslept, and switched to badminton and a little basketball at Ivybridge leisure centre.
