We set off up Pennywell Hill with the idea of heading towards Lee Mill and the Tesco café. After initial leg pains Dillan was enthusiastic so after going through Rattery we took the Hatchlands lane towards Diptford and then turned right on the main road to go through Avonwick. This was new territory for most of the group.

We got as far as the Wrangaton flyover, but an ominous dark cloud and a chill wind whistling up the A38 corridor persuaded everyone that perhaps today was not the best day to do the extra 5 miles to Lee Mill, so instead we headed back through the lanes to South Brent, bought some refreshments form the co-op and then cycled down to The Island to eat them.

We returned home via Harbourneford. John spent the afternoon watching The Hobbit movies on Michael's new TV, in preparation for our cinema trip on Friday, whilst the youngsters played computer games.
