Having bade farewell to the Torbay Section at Bovey Tracey we cut across country to emerge at Trusham Quarry. We soon passed through the village of Trusham itself and then began the long (but thankfully gentle) ascent towards the Belvedere: this periodically appeared tantalisingly briefly, only to be shrouded from view again almost immediately.

The views over the Teign Valley from this road were spectacular and necessitated frequent stops. Lawrence Castle was closed when we reached it so we quickly found a convenient lunch spot, much to the relief of Warren who had been complaining of hunger almost since the start of the ride!

The return journey took us through Chudleigh and Teigngrace before meandering home through a series of lanes and a final two miles on the A38.
