[Cloudy but dry. Waited at start for Llewellyn to get his lights. Main road to Totnes where met Eliot. Totnes Downhill (that's a road name, we were going up). Tuckenhay track, Corkscrew hill, Philip and Luke took muddy track to Cornworthy. Tried out new shop. On to Dittisham and Bozomzeal Farm. Michael's idea of avoiding a muddy track turned into a dead end. Budgie refused the mud and returned by road to Mill Creek for lunch. Rest of group had lunch in field. Some elderly people appeared form behind bush. Lots of flies. Track was quite good. Youngsters played around while Budgie finished his lunch. After some debate climbed hill to Dartmouth. Spinning Wheel café and sports shop. Now 3pm so fastest route home, through Halwell, Moreleigh, Diptford and Rattery, arriving Buckfastleigh 5.15.]

[13 had arrived at the Buckfastleigh start by 10.10. Left at 10.12. Cold but beautiful sunny morning. Caddaford. Difficult horses. Lanes looked beautiful, shafts of sunlight through trees. Littlehempston treatment works. Climbed the stoney track to Gatcombe Tracks. Met farmer on tractor with dog. Motorbikes in field. Met remaining 6 at road. On to castle. Luke repaired puncture in the autumnal lane. Scaled the castle wall and explored. Track descent to lane, viewed the castle from valley - very picturesque. Luke split off for Paignton. More difficult horses beyond Red Post (4). Voted for slightly longer return route via Broadhempston. Met yet more horses - another 2. A patch of ice in the road near Green Lane caught Ashley by surprise. Buckfastleigh by 1.30. Perfect ride. Afternoon social of computer games and table tennis.]
